A brief history
In 1914 and 1915 The event Stockholm-Göteborg-Stockholm (S-G-S) was born - and died. It was an attempt to imitate continental events like Paris-Brest-Paris, at that time a race for professionals.
The distance on S-G-S was 1000km split into two stages including a compulsory 12 hour stop in Göteborg. Participants chose their own route.
Henrik "Murre" Morén won the inaugural edition in the time 51:22.
In 1915 he came second after taking shelter from heavy rain and falling asleep for 5 hours.
In later years the race became known as "Morén Loppet". The distance was now 510 km and went from Göteborg to Stockholm.
As a 60 year old, Henrik Morén rode the event in 20:32:58.
CK Distans and Ultra Cycling Sweden has arranged Stockholm-Göteborg non-stop annually since 2005. Are you up to the challenge?
Henrik got his first bike as a 21 year old.
He made his debut the year after and
competed for the next 38 years!
